Milan
Milan, the economic capital of Italy, is a city rich in history, culture, and gastronomy. Founded by the Gauls in the 4th century BC, it became an important political and commercial center during the Roman Empire.
Today, Milan is famous for its fashion, design, art and in the last years also for tourism.
Milan has got many main attractions such as:
The “Duomo” the Cathedral, with its Gothic architecture
The Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery, one of the oldest shopping arcades in the world.
Sforza Castle, built in the 15th century by the Sforza family, the castle has undergone several transformations over the centuries, becoming an important cultural and tourist attraction today.
La Scala theatre with its museum. It is Milan's main opera house and is considered one of the most prestigious theaters in the world.
San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore built on the ruins of Roman buildings and also known as the Sistine Chapel of Milan.
Cenacolo Vinciano where you can admire one of Leonardo da Vinci's masterpieces: the Last Supper.
Quadrilatero della Moda is Milan's luxury shopping district. The district is bordered by four famous streets: Via Montenapoleone, Via della Spiga, Via Manzoni, and Corso Venezia. Not only shopping but also culture: Palazzo Morando, a museum dedicated to costume, fashion, and image, and Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, a house-museum.
Navigli (Darsena, Naviglio Grande, Naviglio Pavese and Piazza XXIV Maggio), is a district of Milan known for its history, lively night life and shopping in the many artisan and indie shops. Milan's canals are navigable and are used for transporting people and goods and for irrigation. In fact, in past centuries, the city was crisscrossed by waterways where today's main roads are located. Blocks of marble for the construction of the Duomo were transported along these waterways.

In Milan you can eat food of every kind: street food, pizza, Italian and international restaurants, trattorie, etc. Milan is known for its rich and flavorful cuisine. Traditional Milanese dishes include the famous saffron-infused risotto and the delicious “cotoletta alla milanese”, a tasty breaded and fried veal cutlet.
Traveling by Plane
Milan is served by three international airports:
Linate Airport (LIN), is conveniently located within the city and can be reached by taxi or via the blue metro line (MM4).
Malpensa Airport (MXP, 57 km from Milan. It can be reached by taxi, by Malpensa Train Express (https://www.malpensaexpress.it/en/) and by buses.
Orio al Serio Airport (BGY), near Bergamo (60 km from Milan). It can be reached by taxi and by buses.
Traveling by Train
Milan has many different trai stations inside the city. Stazione Centrale is the city’s main railway hub, connects to high-speed trains (Frecciarossa and Frecciabianca) serving Italy and major European destinations, as well as intercity, regional, and local routes.

All the public transportation in Milan are managed by ATM . On the ATM website and App you can find all the information you need to buy tickets, to plan your journey, etc.
